Why HP Premium plus photo paper
As you've made the switch to digital photography, you've constantly refined your technique, trying your hand at dramatic cropping, capturing unique angles, and experimenting with photo editing software. But as with traditional photography, the battle for perfection can be won or lost in the printing stage.

Choosing the right paper for printing is one of the most important decisions in creating great pictures. Find out how HP Premium Plus Photo Paper produces brilliant prints and how it works with HP ink and printers to create true-to-life photos that resist fading for generations.

The science of inkjets
To understand why the right paper is so crucial to producing good prints, it's helpful to understand what happens when inks hit paper. An HP printer shoots a predetermined amount of ink onto the paper.

The wrong amount of ink results in unsatisfactory prints: Putting too much ink into the paper fibers will create microscopically bloated fibers and jagged images that are too saturated, and not enough ink means a light image. HP papers are manufactured to optimize how ink responds and are absorbed by the paper to ensure the best image quality.

HP's coating technology prevents paper jams, curling, and printed pages from sticking together. Additionally, chemicals in HP ink combine with the advanced coating to form a protective barrier against light. Non-HP papers aren't made for the type and amount of ink that are standard in HP products. And lab testing revealed that some non-HP papers actually repelled ink!

What it all means for your photos
The synergy of ink, paper, and printer means that HP Premium Plus Photo Paper creates color photos that are as bright and clear as your memories. The barrier it creates will resist fading for up to 73 years.

If you've ever left a magazine or a book in the window of a car, you've seen firsthand the damage sunlight can do to a printed page. The combination of HP photo inks and the special coating on HP Premium Plus Photo Paper resists the effects of indoor halogen and filtered sunlight, as well as common fluorescent and incandescent light. So you'll be able to frame your photos and display them for years, confident they will resist fading longer than most traditionally developed photographs.

HP Premium Plus Photo Paper creates pictures that jump off the page with natural, lifelike skin tones and vibrant colors, especially when combined with HP's exclusive HP PhotoREt color layering technology. HP color inkjet printers, which use this technology, mix and layer ink much like a painter does, to produce more than 1.2 million colors. The combination of paper, printer, and ink produces images at 4,800 optimized dpi, virtually grain-free.
