You’re going off to college and preparing for a new world of experiences. With the power and portability of your HP notebook you are ready for it all, wherever your education leads you.

To ensure you get the most out of your notebook, HP has put together a checklist of essential items to support your daily computing needs.

  • Carrying case– Protect your notebook as you move from class to class and from library to dorm. Choose a traditional messenger bag loaded with compartments for all your stuff. Or if a backpack is more your style, there’s one with padded compartments for your notebook and several pockets for books and accessories.
  • Docking solution– When you get back to your room and it’s time to get down to business, slide your notebook into a docking station for expanded capabilities. Enjoy comfortable computing without sacrificing your mobility, or desk space, by using a wireless keyboard and mouse. Add hard-drive space to back up all your data and store your photos and videos.
  • Power– Keep your notebook charged up for those long nights of cramming. HP has a selection of AC adapters to keep your batteries charged and the right replacement battery for your notebook.
  • HP USB cable– Conveniently connect your computer to your USB printer, scanner, hard drive or any other USB-compatible peripheral.
  • Security software – Protect your notebook and your data with security software. Norton Internet Security  provides 12 months of protection against viruses, hackers, spyware and spam so you’re safe when you e-mail, swap files, download programs and chat. Norton AntiVirus  works in the background 24/7 to detect and automatically remove viruses, Trojan horses and worms as well as spyware, adware and other annoying monitoring software.
  • Security lock – Keep your HP notebook, printer or other accessories with security slots from falling into the wrong hands with HP’s Kensington® security lock. Take it wherever your notebook goes and lock it to any fixed object.
  • CD and DVD media – Stock up on CDs and burn up to 80 minutes of music or store photos and other data (up to 700MB). Grab some 4.7GB DVD discs to stash up to two hours of high-quality video or enough data to fill seven CDs.
  • Travel surge protector – Questionable outlets in the library? Don’t let your notebook or other electronic device get fried. Protect them with a portable two-outlet, compact surge protector, offering both AC and phone-line surge suppression.
  • Optical travel mouse – Get the extra comfort of an external mouse designed specifically for notebook users! The USB optical travel mouse is compact and light enough so that you can take it to and from class.
  • Chill mat – If you want to chill on your bed or couch and do a little work, break out the Targus Notebook Chill Mat. It’s a cooling mat for notebook PCs with two built-in fans. It’s like a mini-desk for you and a cooler to prevent your notebook from overheating.
  • Bundle up for savings– Think of bundles as your student discount! HP did the shopping for money-strapped students and wrapped up many of these dorm-essential items into one money-saving bundle, saving you up to 30%. Any economics professor will tell you that’s a great deal!
Register for classes, buy your books, meet new friends and with help from HP, prepare yourself for a great wireless college experience!
