Introduction

All you need is your printer and a bit of creativity to make these beautiful book-related projects.  Once you know how to scan three-dimensional objects and print on fabric sheets  you are on your way.

Fabric book covers

Fabric book covers

Create your own cloth book covers by printing photos or designs right onto fabric squares.  If you have an HP All-in-One printer with scanning capabilities, you can also scan three-dimensional objects such as leaves or flowers, or scan book covers or author photos and print them onto fabric. Then, use fabric to cover blank sketchbooks or journals, and adhere with fabric glue.

Cut a piece of 2" wide satin or grosgrain ribbon a few inches longer than twice the height of an average book.  Trim each end into a point to prevent fraying. Print a 1 ½" x 2" photo and affix to ribbon by hand-stitching each corner

Use this creative page holder when you are following a recipe or reading at the beach.  Make it in five easy steps:

  • Print your favorite design or photo onto a fabric square using your inkjet printer, then cut into a 6" x 8" size.
  • Fold in half lengthwise with right sides together.
  • Machine or hand sew sides, leaving a 1½" opening on one short side.
  • Turn right side out and fill with sand or dried beans.
  • Stitch the opening closed.

Keep track of your beloved library by adorning your books with nameplates.  Simply print an image, “property of”, and your name onto photo paper, then cut to size. Adhere to inside book cover with photo-safe glue.
