square cd clock

materials:

  • 1 Sheet of card stock     
  • X-ACTO knife or scissors     
  • Cutting mat     
  • Double-sided tape (high tack)     
  • Used CD     
  • Fishing line     
  • Clock movement

instructions:

  1. Print out the clock face on the card stock. Set aside to dry completely.     
  2. Place the cutting mat underneath the clock face. Using the X-ACTO knife, trim the white areas away from the page.     
  3. Cut out the gray circle in the center of the clock face for the clock movement to go through.     
  4. Unscrew the clock movement components from the shaft, then attach the CD to the front of the clock movement with double-sided tape. (The CD will support your clock face.)     
  5. Apply double-sided tape to the front of the CD and place the clock face on top. Make sure the clock face numbers are oriented correctly before pressing in place.     
  6. Assemble the clock movement components as directed on the package.     
  7. Put in batteries and hang up the clock.


retro cd clock

materials:

  • 2 Sheets of card stock      
  • X-ACTO knife     
  • Cutting mat

  • Fishing line (optional)     
  • Scissors     
  • Clock Movement     
  • Beads (optional)

instructions:

  1. Print out the clock face on the card stock. Set aside to dry completely.     
  2. Place the cutting mat underneath the clock face. Using the X-ACTO knife, trim the white areas away from the page.     
  3. Cut out the gray circle in the center of the clock face for the clock movement to go through.     
  4. Unscrew the clock movement components from the shaft, then attach the CD to the front of the clock movement with double-sided tape. (The CD will support your clock face.)     
  5. Apply double-sided tape to the front of the CD and place the clock face on top. Make sure the clock face numbers are oriented correctly before pressing in place.     
  6. Assemble the clock movement components as directed on the package.     
  7. Put in batteries and hang up the clock.

optional decoration for retro design:

  1. Print out the retro squares (page 2) on the card stock. Set aside to dry completely.     
  2. Place the cutting mat underneath the squares. Using the X-ACTO knife, trim out twice as many squares as you would like to hang from your clock.     
  3. Place half of the squares face down, and apply double-sided tape to the backs.     
  4. Place a length of fishing line on top of the square,  and then another square, face up. Multiple squares can be taped to the same length of fishing line, or just a single square.     
  5. Tie a bead at the bottom of each piece of fishing line to weigh it down.     
  6. Tape the length of fishing line to the back of the clock face.
