Scale your prints to fit the page

Not everything fits perfectly inside a standard page size. But your printer can automatically scale (resize) your print up or down in size so it’s just right. This will avoid oversized prints from taking up several pages.

  • Select File > Print. Then, choose Properties from the dialogue box. Look for a check box labeled Scale to fit page or Fit to page. Click OK (or Print), and you’re set.

NOTE: If what you’re printing is significantly smaller than the paper size, you may see some distortion when it’s enlarged to fit the page.

When you don’t need to see your print full sized (for example, when you’re previewing several photo prints at once) consider printing more than one page per sheet of paper. It’s easy and can save loads of paper and ink.

Select File > Print. Then, choose Properties from the dialogue box and click on the Features tab. Set the number of pages per sheet to whatever you want.

Print double-sided

The ability to automatically print on both sides of the paper not only saves time; it also saves money by using up to 50% less paper.

A two-sided printing accessory, called a duplexer, is an easy add-on to most HP inkjet printers (including All-in-Ones).

You can always print double sided the old-fashioned way too. Simply remove the page you just printed and place it back into your paper tray.

NOTE: Different printers load paper differently. You may have to print a test page, mark it, reload it, and print again to ensure that your second page isn't printing on the same side as your first printout.

Use only genuine HP inks and papers. QualityLogic, one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations, recently tested the performance of HP inkjet print cartridges vs. remanufactured ink refill brands.1 The results: original HP inkjet print cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.

  • Nearly one out of every six ink cartridge refills tested was dead on arrival or failed prematurely
  • 70% of ink cartridge refills had some form of reliability problem

Intermittent color loss appears on an ink refill test page.
