Q. What is the HP Care Pack registration and activation process?
A. This is HP’s way to link your extended service plan to both your product and your customer information. When you call in for service and support, we can access your product information right away and avoid having to collect proof of purchase information for both your product and extended service plan.
Q. Why should I register my HP Care Pack with HP?
A. Registration of your HP Care Pack will provide our Service and Support teams the information they need to deliver the correct level of extended support you have purchased for your HP product. Not registering your HP Care Pack might result in delays to receiving the correct level of extended service.
Q. What are my options for registering my HP Care Pack?
A. Option 1 - If your Care Pack came in a package, choose one of 4 ways to register
- Online - click on the button below to start your online registration
- By phone - call 1-800-HPInvent (1-800-474-6836) select menu option for Technical support and the support agent will assist you in registering your Care Pack service
- By FAX - fax your HP Care Pack registration card to 1-541-715-5522
- By mail - mail your HP Care Pack registration card or other related correspondence to:

Q. What if I haven’t registered my HP product with HP, should I still register my HP Care Pack?
A. Yes, registration of your HP Care Pack is the only way to link the additional coverage you have purchased to the correct HP product and customer information. Registration of your HP product is not required for you to receive service and support. However, registering your HP product provides you additional benefits and information specific to your needs. Q. Is my information kept private?
A. HP is committed to protecting your privacy. We will not sell, rent or lease your personal information to others. HP will not share your personal information with third parties except in responding to your requests for products or services. Your permission will be requested when you submit your information. Q. How do I know if my HP Care Pack was successfully registered?
A. Upon completion of the HP Care Pack registration process, you will receive a confirmation email verifying that your HP Care Pack was successfully registered. Important Note: Registration of your HP Care Pack will result in e-mail from HP. If you do not receive one, it is possible that the security settings (SPAM filtering) are preventing HP messages from being delivered to your inbox. Please check for these messages in another folder such as junk, bulk, unknown, or trash
Q. Where can I find my HP product serial number and/or product code (also known as the product number)?
A. The product code and serial number are usually located on the original product box. It is also usually located on the product itself, either on the bottom or back of the unit. For an example, see Where to find the serial number
Note: When cutting and pasting serial numbers from electronic invoices, please be careful not to include blank spaces as errors may occur with your serial number
Q. How do locate my H/W information being requested by the online registration tool?
A. H/W is an acronym for “hardware”. You HP product is sometimes referred to by this acronym. When asked for information about your H/W, enter the information about your HP product
Which serial number do I use for my custom HP product if my invoice and product contain different serial numbers?
A. The serial number to use is the one listed on your HP product itself, either on the bottom or back of the unit. For an example, see Where to find the serial number
Q. How do I modify or delete product(s) covered by my HP Care Pack?
A. HP does not allow Care Pack product coverage to be modified or deleted after registration. If an existing product is registered incorrectly, please contact the HP Care Pack registration support team for assistance. Email HP Care Pack Registration Support
Q. When registering my HP Care Pack, I receive a system error message. How should I proceed?
A. System error messages may occur for a variety of reasons including high customer registration volumes to the online registration tool, system delays with your internet service provider (ISP), or errors in entering your HP Care Pack or HP product information. If you have verified your HP Care Pack and HP product information is correct, please contact the HP Care Pack registration support team for assistance. Email HP Care Pack Registration Support
