The powerful HP MediaSmart Server is easy to set up and use. Just plug it in, connect it to your router (sold separately), and load the software onto your PCs and/or Macs. Once you’re connected, your home server will automatically manage many important activities for you behind the scenes, including regular backup and maintenance.
Give multiple users convenient access
Quickly and easily create up to 10 user accounts on your HP MediaSmart Server. You can also use a predefined guest account for additional file sharing capabilities.
Extend the convenience of your home server to remote users by setting up your own secure personal web address1 You control access privileges for each user at the shared-folder level to allow read/write, read only or no access. Approved remote users will then be able to access shared folders and files on your HP MediaSmart Server.
Share your media
Enjoy digital music, photos, video and files from any networked PC or Mac, whether you’re home or away.2 Plus, conveniently stream photos, music and videos to TVs in your home through computers and gaming consoles such as Xbox 360 or PLAYSTATION®3.3

More than just photo sharing
CThe HP MediaSmart Server saves you time by offering a streamlined way to manage your photo libraries with any Internet-connected computer. Let family and friends securely access your personal photo albums on the server using the server’s built-in HP Photo Viewer website. You can also quickly publish the photos and albums on your server directly to popular websites such as Snapfish, Flickr, Picasa Web Albums and Facebook.4
iTunes music for all
Create a shared iTunes music library on the server to easily access music from any desktop or laptop computer in your home network. You can listen to the same songs whether you’re in your home office or your living room. Plus, the centralized playlist can automatically “pull” any new music from the individual computers to give you easy access to the latest music you love.
Automatically protect your data
The HP MediaSmart Server automatically backs up multiple computers in your home including both Windows® PCs (using Microsoft’s Windows Home Server Backup) and Macs (using Apple’s Time Machine).5 You can customize the frequency and number of backups stored on the server to suit your needs.
If you accidentally delete files from your computer, there’s no need to panic—you can easily restore deleted files from the server. Plus, in the event of a hard disk drive failure, use the PC Restore disk to return your PC to its original condition. Now, that’s peace of mind!
