Introduction

It’s both simple and surprisingly inexpensive to add wireless capabilities to many HP printers that don’t have them built in. Explore several different options for adding wireless to your printer.

Learn about wireless options

Bluetooth printing from a phone
Bluetooth is best for short-range connections, and Wi-Fi allows greater speeds and ranges. HP offers options for adding both types of wireless networking.

Wireless printing allows the tremendous convenience of printing without wires—no more office arrangements dictated by the length of the printer cord! Different wireless options have different ranges and benefits:

  • Wi-Fi allows several printers in the same area (home, office, dorm, etc.) to share a printer and has a range of approximately 300 feet.

  • Bluetooth allows instant short-range connections and is ideal for travelers and those who like to print photos and documents from their Bluetooth-enabled phones and PDAs.

Add Wi-Fi

HP Wireless G Print Server
The convenient HP Wireless G Print Server is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
Add Wi-Fi capability to your HP printer, and share it with several other computers—it’s easy to do with the HP Wireless G Print Server.

Install the accompanying software on your computer (waiting to attach the Print Server to your printer until the software prompts you to do so), plug in, and you’re connected.

The Print Server allows you to connect to compatible printers wirelessly, even if you don’t have a previous wireless network or router set up!

Check to see the HP Wireless G Print Server Compatibility to find out if your HP printer, MFP, or All-in-One will work with the HP Wireless G Print Server.

Upgrade to built-in wireless

HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One
The HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One comes with built-in wireless and Bluetooth connectivity.

While adding wireless is a fantastic option, if it’s almost time for you to upgrade your printer anyway, you might want to consider a model with wireless built in. It’s a convenient technology that will only become more indispensable as time goes on.
