Introduction

The scientists at HP are continually working to improve the formula for HP toner, just one of the reasons that HP LaserJet printers and MFPs have been a choice of businesses and home offices for more than 25 years. Find out what makes HP toner the best, both for quality and value.

See how laser printing works

Color progression of toner
The uniformity and shape of HP toner has improved significantly over time.
Laser printers use static electricity to affix toner powder (a combination of pigment and other miniscule particles) onto the paper. The paper rolls through a hot fuser, using a combination of pressure and heat to join the powder to the paper’s fibers.

Along with the printer quality, the quality of the toner (measured through the uniformity, shape, and placement of the toner particles) is directly responsible for getting crisp, clear results. The scientists at HP are constantly striving to make improvements to these attributes of HP toner.

Woman with flyer
Your HP LaserJet printer is ideal for printing professional-quality color flyers and brochures.
The current Original HP ColorSphere toner has distinct benefits over previous toners, even those from HP:
  • More colors
HP ColorSphere toner provides a 39% wider range of color than pre-ColorSphere HP color toner1.

  • Higher gloss
The 2008 HP ColorSphere toner delivers 117% higher gloss than the 2004 version1, so your glossy prints, including photos, will have that professionally printed look.

  • Faster printing
More prints per minute and faster drying times mean you can handle prints without waiting.
These developments make HP Color LaserJet printers an option for printing your own vivid marketing materials and getting the crisp text of laser printed documents, all from one machine.

Changing toner
The instructions on the toner package tell you which way to hold the cartridge while you replace it.
In a laser printer, the drum is one of the parts that transfers the toner to the paper. Print drums need to be replaced occasionally to maintain peak performance.

Most HP LaserJet toner cartridges include the imaging drum, so you save the time and expense of replacing it separately, and you’re always printing with a drum that’s fresh. Changing your HP LaserJet toner is like performing a tune-up for your printer, every time.

HP toner: #1 in quality and value

Genuine HP toner
The color you’ll get from HP color toner (below) is noticeably more vibrant than what you’ll get with remanufactured toner (above).
Man with toner package
Genuine HP toner ensures that you’ll get the best performance and value from your HP LaserJet printer.
The quality of the toner has a direct effect on the quality of a printer’s output. A recent study showed that the output from Original HP LaserJet color toner cartridges is consistently more reliable than output from the remanufactured color toner cartridges.

More than 33% of tested refilled ink cartridges failed prematurely or right out of the box, and more than 25% of the pages inspected from tested remanufactured cartridges were unsuitable for external use.

The tested Original HP cartridges worked every time with no cartridge failures, resulting in more than 98% of pages inspected being acceptable for all uses.

With the exceptional reliability of HP toner cartridges, you’ll get more prints per cartridge. In the end, an Original HP color toner cartridge can end up costing less than the average remanufactured color toner cartridge.
